6 Şubat 2023’te Türkiye’yi sarsan deprem, binlerce hayatı değiştirdi. Eskisi Gibi belgeseli, bu felaketten etkilenen ve uzuvlarını kaybeden çocukların fiziksel ve duygusal iyileşme sürecine odaklanıyor. Türkiye’nin farklı bölgelerinde yeni hayatlar kurmaya çalışan bu çocukların karşılaştıkları zorluklar ve bu zorlukları aşma mücadeleleri, dayanışma ve umut temaları etrafında anlatılıyor.
Film, Adana’daki Çukurova Üniversitesi Çocuk İyilik Merkezi’nde (ÇÖİM) iyileşme sürecinde olan Aliye ve Yaren’in hikâyesini merkezine alıyor. İzleyici, onların birlikte verdikleri mücadeleye, dostluklarına ve birbirlerine verdikleri desteğe tanıklık ediyor. Rehabilitasyon ve psikoterapi seanslarının ardından Hatay’a yaptıkları yolculuk, hem şehirlerin yeniden doğuşuna hem de iki genç kızın güçlenme hikâyesine ayna tutuyor.
On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake struck Türkiye, changing thousands of lives forever. Just Like Before focuses on the physical and emotional recovery of children who lost their limbs in this disaster. It follows their struggles and resilience as they rebuild their lives in different parts of the country, highlighting themes of solidarity and hope.
The film centers on the story of Aliye and Yaren, two young girls undergoing rehabilitation at the Children’s Kindness Center (ÇÖİM) within Çukurova University in Adana. The audience witnesses their shared journey of healing, their friendship, and the strength they draw from one another. After completing therapy sessions, they travel together to Hatay, discovering the city’s rebirth while deepening their emotional bond and mutual support.

Sibel Karakurt, Ankara Üniversitesi Siyaset Bilimi mezunudur. 2004 yılında CNN Türk’te yayınlanan “32. Gün” haber programında muhabir olarak başladığı kariyerinde, toplumsal olayları derinlikli bir bakış açısıyla ele alma deneyimini belgesel sinemaya taşıdı. 2006’da Habertürk Belgesel Bölümü’nde yazar ve yapımcı olarak “Beyoğlu 24”, “Spassibo İstanbul” ve “Black Side of Istanbul” gibi yapımlara imza attı. “Empire of the Word” (2008) ve “Lekha’s Journey” (2009)” Opium Dreams” gibi uluslararası yapımlarda yapımcı ve yazar olarak çalıştı. Al Jazeera International için yönettiği “Ceska Murders” ile uluslararası belgesel alanında güçlü bir çıkış yaptı.
Kültürel miras ve gastronomi alanındaki ilgisi, “Doğunun ve Batının Ötesinde: Fatih Sultan Mehmet” (2022) ve “İstanbul Lezzetleri” (2023), Lüfer Devri (2024), belgesellerinde yapımcı olarak yer aldı. Son filmi “Eskisi Gibi” (2024), 6 Şubat 2023 depreminde uzuvlarını kaybeden çocukların iyileşme ve hayata tutunma mücadelelerini, aile bağları ve umut teması üzerinden anlatıyor.
Sibel Karakurt graduated from Ankara University with a degree in Political Science. She began her career in 2004 as a reporter for CNN Türk’s news program “32nd Day”. Bringing her experience of covering social events with depth and perspective into documentary cinema, she worked as a writer and producer in Habertürk’s Documentary Department in 2006, signing productions such as “Beyoğlu 24”, “Spasibo Istanbul”, and “Black Side of Istanbul”. She also worked as a producer and writer on international productions like “Empire of the Word” (2008), “Lekha’s Journey” (2009), and “Opium Dreams”. Her documentary “Ceska Murders”, produced for Al Jazeera International, marked a strong debut in the international documentary field. Her interest in cultural heritage and gastronomy led her to work as a producer on documentaries such as “Beyond East and West: Fatih Sultan Mehmet” (2022), “Flavors of Istanbul” (2023), and “The Era of Bluefish” (2024). Her latest film, “Just Like Before” (2024), tells the story of children who lost their limbs in the February 6, 2023 earthquake, portraying their struggle to heal and hold on to life through the themes of family bonds and hope
